With this module you can use Wi-Fi to control up to four servo motors controlling turnouts or other accessories that require accurate motion. Channels can be controlled in many different ways
Please note that the servo-motors shown are for guidance only. No motors are included with this product. You can purchase third-party servo motors as required from your dealer.
This module provides Wi-Fi or DCC control of four servo-motors such as are available for model control.
As an example, four of DF Robot's Servo Motors DF9GMS can be operated using the on-board 5V power supply.
DF Robot DF9GMS
Wifitrax has built 3D Printed Switch Machine using this Servo Motor which work very well.
There are many ways to operate the accessories controlled by the WFS-48.
The simplest is to connect a browser to the WFS-48 web pages and operate the turnouts or other accessory by tapping buttons on the web page. You'll probably use this for initial checkout.
But to make best use of one or more WFS-48 you have two alternatives. You can connect a DCC Command Station/Booster to the DCC inputs of a set of WFS-48 and control them centrally. Or you can use a Wifitrax WFD-60 Wi-Fi and DCC Gateway. This device discovers and controls a set of
WFS-48 (or other Wifitrax WFS series) over Wi-Fi to provide centalized control. The WFD-60 provides a WiThrottle server so that you can use an app such as Engine Driver or WiThrottle or a device
like TCS UWT-100/50 to control turnouts. You'll likely use this method if you are using a WFD-60 to control large-scale locomotives.
The WFD-60 also provides a DCC input, so you can use an existing DCC Command Station/Booster to control your turnouts by simply connecting its Track DCC output to the WFD-60 DCC input.
But that's not all. The WFD-60 also provides its own set of customizeable schematic panels so that you can build a schematic diagram of all or part of your layout and control
your turnouts by clicking or tapping on the turnout image in the panel.
The Web pages provided by the WFS-48 provide individual channel setup allowing you to specify easily the limits that the servo motor will move to
in its closed and thrown state. Movement of the servo motor is slow motion similar to stall-motor switch machines.
